Centro de Formacion de la Cooperacion Española, Cartagena de Indias (Colombia)

In today's world, the question of diversity is not just about acknowledging differences, but about actively fostering inclusion and understanding. This workshop brings together experts from around the globe to grapple with the multifaceted nature of multiculturalism, exploring innovative approaches and challenging conventional wisdom. But more importantly, it brings you together – a diverse group of practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders, each with unique perspectives and experiences to share.

What do we mean by diversity? Diversity encompasses a rich tapestry of human experience, including but not limited to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, ability, age, language, and even thought and perspective. It recognizes that our individual identities intersect and interact in complex ways, shaping our lived realities and influencing our interactions with the world. From a sociological perspective, diversity speaks to the structures of power and inequality that shape access to resources and opportunities. From a cultural perspective, it highlights the rich tapestry of traditions, values, and beliefs that make up our global community. From a biological perspective, diversity underscores the strength and resilience that comes from a multitude of forms and functions. Understanding diversity in its broadest sense is crucial for building truly inclusive and equitable societies.

This international workshop on multicultural approaches to diversity is designed to be a truly collaborative and interactive experience. We believe that the best solutions, the most impactful strategies, emerge from shared knowledge and diverse perspectives. Throughout the workshop, we encourage active participation, open dialogue, and the free exchange of ideas. We want to hear your experiences working on the ground, your insights from research, and your challenges in implementing inclusive policies. We'll be using a variety of formats, from keynote presentations and panel discussions to smaller breakout sessions and interactive workshops, designed to maximize engagement and facilitate meaningful connections.

This is not just about listening to experts; it's about learning from each other. We want to create a space where we can collectively explore new pathways to promote intercultural understanding and build more inclusive communities. We will be tackling complex issues, from addressing systemic inequalities and combating discrimination to fostering intercultural dialogue and celebrating cultural richness. We will also be looking at practical tools and strategies, examining case studies, and sharing best practices from different parts of the world. So, we invite you to join the conversation, contribute your expertise, challenge our assumptions, and help shape a more just and equitable future for all.
