SII Workshop 2026

The workshop Stellar Intensity Interferometry 2026 aims at gathering researchers involved in the modern revival of intensity interferometry, the science cases in which it will be competitive, its enabling technologies (detectors, photonics…) and closely related interferometric techniques.

The workshop will be held at the H10 Taburiente Playa, La Palma (Spain) from October 5-9, 2026. It is being organized jointly by CIEMAT and IPARCOS (UCM).

The growing interest among younger generations in discussing challenges related to heritage has driven the development of research in the field of cultural heritage conservation and restoration. The ICP aims to establish itself as a space for broad, current, multidisciplinary and cross-cutting reflection on research into heritage conservation, both in the academic sphere, at master's, doctoral and postdoctoral level, and in professional contexts. The sixth edition of the ICP will take place in October 2026 at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, under the theme ‘Heritage at Risk - Challenges and Solutions’.

We are pleased to welcome you to the 2nd International Congress on Generative AI and the Radical Transformation of Science, Communication, and Culture, which will take place on October 20 and 21, 2026 at the School of Communication Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid.

This expert-to-expert congress, open to anyone interested in Artificial Intelligence, is not a starting point but it is grounded in the work accumulated over six seminars and the 2024 Congress, which achieved wide impact in attendance, social media, and the press, with results compiled in the book Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies in the Social Sciences and Humanities (Tirant lo Blanch, 2025, open access). The sessions of this second edition will be available via streaming and will remain accessible to attendees indefinitely on the UCM platform.

From the consolidated UCM research group "Transparency, Good Governance and Communication, 931036", which I have the honour of leading, we convene international experts to rigorously reflect on the profound changes that generative AI is currently producing and will continue to produce in work, democracy, culture, and collective decision-making. The contributions from the eight round tables and the papers submitted by participants will be published in an indexed book. Our aim is to ensure an active dialogue oriented toward producing thought, rather than merely accumulating it.

Participation in the congress is academically recognized. Undergraduate students will receive 1 ECTS credit, and PhD candidates will accumulate 22 hours of activities for the RAPI program. All attendees will receive a certificate from the UCM Foundation. We also invite companies, institutions, and other organizations to join this initiative not only as participants but also as sponsors. This is an excellent opportunity for their views to be heard by the university community and society as a whole.
